60 PLUS YEARS STRONG!
Welcome to Palm Beach County Women’s Golf Association – a league of women
representing the most prestigious golf clubs in South Florida
Palm Beach County Women’s Golf Association (a not-for-profit organization) is rich in history and in its roots within the golf communities of Palm Beach County. Founded in 1963, we credit these women with our conception:
FOUNDING WOMEN | |
---|---|
Mrs. Rose Ross | Mrs. Ruth Mazza |
Mrs. Elinor Kerste | Mrs. Donald Aldrich |
Mrs. Donald Aldrich | Mrs. James Postman |
Mrs. Hugo Boeddinghaus |
In it’s infancy, women from ten different clubs were represented from Tequesta to Boca Raton. There were 85 women that opening year! As you can see from our logo the foundation was, and still is, “fellowship, competition, and sportsmanship” among female golfers. Tee times for the group were published in The Palm Beach Post as were the winners. Tournament highlights could be found in the society and sports section of The Post. In 2013 we celebrated our 50th anniversary at Bear Lakes Country Club. Fourteen past presidents along with past trophy winners going as far back as 1966 were there to help celebrate our milestone.
Over these last 60 years we have grown and improved. Our dress attire and equipment have changed substantially, but not our core values. We continue to be 235+ members strong and represent over 40 area clubs. PBCWGA values the building of new friendships across the county while renewing treasured old friends over a backdrop of 18 holes of competitive golf played on some of the finest courses Palm Beach has to offer.
A testament to our group is in how many years some have been members. We have multiple ladies who have been members for over 39 years and still keep coming back year after year for more fun! To join our group please go to the Become a Member tab or click the link below. We look forward to seeing you on the fairways.
